Brittany and Jimmy’s Sunset Cliffs and Island Palms Wedding Photography

Brittany and Jimmy’s day of Sunset Cliffs and Island Palms wedding photography started a few days after they and their families arrived from the Mid-West for their destination wedding, here in lovely Southern California. They had planned well and selected Sunset Cliffs for their wedding ceremony because of the beautiful and dramatic views of the San Diego coastline and Pacific Ocean.

After first  capturing some general shots of the getting ready activity in home, I staged the first look wedding photography between Brittany and her father. With a rooftop vies of palms and the nearby ocean Brittany’s father turned to gaze upon his daughter Brittany in her lovely straight across wedding dress. The was certainly a heartfelt moment for the two and it photographed well.

Before long we were soon off to the wedding ceremony site of Sunset Cliffs. Here the groom Jimmy and his groomsmen were waiting, and so too were the couple’s guests of family and friends. With a second photographer on hand as well, the couple had excellent photography coverage of their entire ceremony. We captured their wedding from many perspectives with the pair of cameras and multiple lenses that each of us two photographers carried.

A sand ceremony was included in the couple’s wedding service, which of course also featured the citing of their vows, exchange of rings, and kiss. With that their Sunset Cliffs wedding ceremony concluded and we set about photographing the couple and their families in varying combinations. The wedding photography captured both traditional types of poses as well as some fun and creative shots on the cliffs below, closer to the splashing ocean waves.

The Best Western Plus Island Palms resort hosted the couple’s wedding reception, and it was only short drive away. I made it there just ahead of the couple so that I could capture their arrival, and some shots of the reception room and table settings. It was here that I also spent more time with just Brittany and Jimmy, so that I could create photos of just the two of them. The resort’s location adjacent to Shelter Island Marina and of course venue itself, offered some great views and features for this part of the couple’s Island Palms wedding photography. Features like the boats of the marina, the dock, and the boardwalk along the water all helped me in composing the wedding and couple’s shots we wanted.

It was truly heartfelt, relaxed and loving, and I’m glad the Island Palms wedding photography captured a lot of that for the newlyweds. The schedule for the reception itself was masterfully managed by Grant Brickner of Accent Weddings & Events. Grant did a terrify job in not only overseeing the schedule and quality of music, but he directed some special and fun moments for the couple and everyone, too! Guests liked the Photo Booth he brought along as well. I’m sure the couple and their guests also really liked the Best Western Plus Island Palms, and not just its great location, because the resort’s staff, service and food were all really excellent.
