Sundial Terrace, overlooking Ponto Beach in Carlsbad, CA, provides a wonderful view from the cliffs to the beaches below. On this summer-like day in November it was the view atop the cliffs at the terrace that was of most interest, because it was here that Jessica and Chris were married in front of their family and friends. Their Carlsbad wedding photography was a special moment in the perfect location.
Jessica looked lovely in her long, well-fitted wedding dress, and many on-lookers thought so, too. Her wedding dress featured a v-neck and a sweep train. Chris, a United States Marine, was wearing his USMC dress blues. The couple looked very elegant, and the contrasting colors of Jessica’s white dress and Chris’ blue uniform looked wonderful. Their Carlsbad wedding photography really captured the beauty of their wedding attire, as well as of their wedding day’s special moments.
The couple’s Carlsbad wedding photography started with Jessica’s father walking her down the stairs from the top of Sundial Terrace to the groom and guests waiting below, as you can see in the accompanying photos. Chris received Jessica from her father in elegant fashion, and then the ceremony began. The couple’s ceremony was presided over by the always-caring and engaging Reverend Cathy Glenn of Ever After Wedding. The wedding ceremony was performed perfectly.
After citing their vows the couple exchanged rings, a moment which I like to capture closely. Using my longer lens and second camera so that I could continue to maintain an unobtrusive distance, I was able to capture in detail the placement of each ring on both the bride and groom. Next, Jessica and Chris shared a sand ceremony. This is the pouring of two colors of sand and represents the blending of their two lives from this point forward. With that and a blessing and announcement from Reverend Glenn, the two were married and sealed their love with a kiss.
After the ceremony, Jessica and Chris received congratulations from family, and then we set about capturing posed photos with their family and more creative shots with just the couple around Sundial Terrace. Using the wonderful views of the ocean and beach below, as well as the nice strong backlighting of the sun, a wonderful collection of dramatic and vivid Carlsbad wedding photography was created for the couple. Their wedding photos also included shots on the beach as well as alongside nearby grass and tree.
