Krupa and Chris Catamaran Wedding Photos

The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA was the idyllic wedding venue that Krupa and Chris selected for their wedding. From the comfortable rooms where each separately got ready, to the grassy lawn for their wedding ceremony next to the beach of Mission Bay, through the tropical grounds where we created more wedding photos, and into the wonderfully-colored, and very well-hosted reception inside the hotel, it was a great wedding afternoon and evening.

Featured on this page are a few of my photographer favorite Catamaran wedding photos for Krupa and Chris. Their complete collection of hundreds of wonderful wedding photos can be accessed in my San Diego Wedding Photographer Client Galleries (password required). I’ve also created a video with their wedding photos, which you can see in the photography post Catamaran Resort Wedding Photos in Motion.

Family and friends came from near and far, even all the way from India. Though largely a traditional American wedding, there was no shortage of beautiful colors, wonderful music, and so much joy. I photographed a number of emotive shots in Krupa and Chris’s collection of Catamaran wedding photos. For instance, a toast by Krupa’s father and others, was truly heartfelt. Capturing moments like these, both in still photography and in the wedding videography I also provided, makes wedding photography so pleasurable and important.

Krupa and Chris’ wedding photography began with capturing Krupa’s getting ready, first with makeup application by artist Desi of Robert Cromeans Salon, of Krupa’s wedding dress, activity in the room, and then of Krupa and her bridesmaids helping with the final fitting of her wedding dress. In between, I spent a bit of time with Chris when he was finished getting ready, and on his walk to his parent’s room where he gave his mother her corsage. After heading back over to the bride’s room, I walked with her and her bridesmaids through the resort to wait for their entrance to the wedding ceremony on the lawn.

With wedding videography set and in place and operated by my assistant Chase, I continued to focus on wedding photography, including capturing the guests anticipating the wedding party, then the wedding party’s arrival, and the elegant entrance that Krupa made coming down the stairs from the upper level at the Catamaran. Escorted by her father, I could see, and captured, the first look she had of Chris, and the first look that the groom Chris had of his bride. You can see some of these moments in their Catamaran wedding photos.

Following the wedding ceremony photography, and candid shots afterwards, we created photos with the bridal party around the Catamaran resort. First on the beach, then in various areas of the lobby with it’s waterfall and nice staircase, as well as photography throughout the property. I don’t always plan where or how I want to take a couple’s wedding photos, because I like spontaneous creativity. That’s how life is and it sometimes helps in making photos look more genuine. Besides, there’s always time for the usual posed photos but less couples want that these days. But ultimately, wedding photography should always be unique like couples are, and that’s sometimes a spontaneous thing.

Krupa and Chris’s wedding reception was so much fun and full of dancing, and quite simple a very happy evening celebration of their wedding. Following the toasts that I mentioned above, guests were served a several course meal that was nicely prepared and served by the Catamaran. Throughout the evening the DJ played a wonderful mix of music and did a great job keeping the schedule on track and mastering the evening’s events. One of the events was of course Krupa and Chris’s cutting their wedding cake. Made by Flour Power Cakery, the wedding cake looked very elegant.

It was a wonderful experience providing wedding photography for Krupa and Chris at the Catamaran Resort, and such a pleasure to be able to spend this special time with them. I’m now looking forward to seeing which photos they select so that I can begin creating their storybook wedding album.
