Melissa and Sean Sheraton San Diego Wedding Photos

Located on San Diego’s Harbor Island at the edge of downtown, and alongside San Diego Bay and the nearby international airport, the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has created a wonderful wedding venue. It was here that Melissa and Sean held their wedding day. Wedding photography for the couple included getting ready shots in suites at the Bay Tower, their wedding ceremony on the lawn adjacent to the marina, the wonderful-decorated evening reception in the Catalina Ballroom and Terrace, and a collection of creative shots on the property.

With fantastic views overlooking downtown San Diego and the bay, and using the ever-important natural light, as it streamed in the windows of the suites, or the bright sun rays shining onto the wedding ceremony on the lawn, I found more than just a few nice opportunities to create some vivid photos during the daytime portion of wedding photography for Melissa and Sean’s Sheraton San Diego wedding.

When you take a look through this collection of some of my photographer favorites photos you’ll know what I mean by using the views and natural lighting. Take for example the shot of the wedding rings with downtown San Diego downtown skyline in the background, and of the wedding ceremony on the lawn, or of the wedding party in the ivy-lined walkway. Big views and big lighting, together with a little post-wedding photo editing helped make for vivid and vibrant photos for the couple’s Sheraton San Diego wedding.

My creative and photo-documentary style of wedding photography for Melissa and Sean captured bride and bridesmaids getting ready, her wedding dress, rings, shoes, bouquets, and of course makeup and hair. Hair was styled beautifully and professionally by Jennifer Gaut of Haven Salon, as she paid a lot of attention to all the details. The wedding photography then continued to Sean’s getting ready with his friends and family (including his grandparents, father and brother), and Melissa’s father.

After photographing the final stages of Melissa getting ready, and the complete ceremony, plus posed family photos and creative wedding and portrait photography afterwards, it was time to capture the wonderful reception. The place settings were very nicely decorated, featuring tall vases of orchids. The flowers and the wedding and bridesmaids bouquets were provided by San Diego Wholesale Flowers, and they looked terrific. What I also noticed through the whole day was how the Sheraton staff were very pleasant and professional, from Susan their Wedding Coordinator, to the staff attending to the reception.

Speaking of terrific, take a look at the fantastic wedding cake that Melissa and Sean ordered. I do like the unique square design, which was created by Edelweiss European Bakery. I had a moment to talk with the baker and learned that he lived in Scotland, as I once did! Small world. And keeping everything on track according to Melissa and Sean’s schedule for their Sheraton San Diego wedding, was the very professional and capable Pat Connolly of Sound Prodigy. He had a really great mix of music and provided perfect lighting for the event.

Melissa and Sean’s wedding was a pleasure to photograph. As much a family gathering as it was their wedding, and everyone had such a great time. It was a delight providing the wedding photography for their San Diego event.
