Commercial photography documented the parking lot guidance and information system developed by ParkHelp USA for Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon, CA.. From guiding drivers to available spaces in a fraction of the original time, to enabling users to find lost vehicles, ParkHelp USA‘s solutions are designed to make parking as quick and convenient as possible. At their newest Southern California installation for Premium Outlets, I recently spent the evening capturing the various lighting and information board systems.
Photographing high contrast locations such as bright signs and concrete facilities can be challenging, particularly in a parking lot where there are dark areas and bright illumination of lighting and information signs. However, using proper commercial photography techniques, such as those used for this project, it was possible to create a nice collection of clean, accurate and even artist photos. Good commercial photography that completely captures the goals of a project were important to ParkHelp for their marketing, print, web, and PowerPoint presentations.
The practical commercial photography for this project included capturing ParkHelps parking guidance system in actual use by drivers. This was done in several ways. First, there were a number of static, still photos of the above-stall lighting that shows which parking spaces are vacant or occupied. Next, signs showing the number of spaces available on each of the four floors of the parking structure were photographed. To give a more dynamic feel of drivers actively using the signs, slower camera shutter speeds were used to show movement of vehicles as they entered and exited the parking facility and spaces.
Commercial photography techniques that I used required the use of several lenses and cameras, with only some use of strobe lighting. Natural light and camera settings, followed by proper editing techniques were used to develop the final commercial photos for ParkHelp USA. The collection of photos in this post represent some favorite photographer shots that are part of the complete collection of commercial photography of the parking guidance system. An additional set of commercial photography products were also created for this project to provide 360-degree views at a couple of location of the parking structure. These virtual photography views are unique for the complete spherical view they provide of locations.
