Zack Triathlete Photo Shoot

I recently spent an early morning photographing Zack to create his triathlete photo shoot on the island of Coronado, just across the bay from San Diego. Zack is a serious triathlete, who’s enjoying some great wins, including at the recent South Bay Sprint Tri where he made the top podium spot at the Chula Vista Challenge triathlon!

At the Chula Vista Challenge, Zack competed in the Olympic distance triathlon, which had a swim distance of 1.5K, 40K bike ride and a 10K run.  Zack became the first to win the “double”! Wearing the same trisuit he used in the Chula Vista Challenge, plus his wear from his sponsor Vigorade, along with other running cloths, Zack and I put together a fun triathlete photo shoot. With these shots he’ll be able to promote his sponsor and help gain valuable marketing for his advancement as a triathlete.

Our triathlete photo shoot began with some casual, static shots using as rather dramatic background the San Diego – Coronado Bay Bride and San Diego Bay. The early morning triathlete photo shoot had overcast skies but this helped with even lighting while also keeping the background neutral to help keep focus on Zack.

Static shots can be great helping develop bold shots, and so we photographed more of these with Zack getting ready to run and with him posed with his Felt bicycle. But I think one very important thing in any photo shoot is motion, and this couldn’t be more true than for a sports triathlete photo shoot. The motion, action shots that were created were of Zack running and cycling, as well as some in the context of swimming, too.

Zack’s complete collection of photos for his triathlete photo shoot can be seen in my San Diego Portrait Photographer Client Galleries (password required).
