Jodi’s 18th birthday debut photography captured an evening of fun and celebration with family and friends. The birthday party was hosted at Admiral Kidd Catering and Conference Center at Naval Base Point Loma at the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, and located on San Diego Bay.
In Philippine tradition, Jodi and her family threw a large party, complete with her own hand-picked entourage of 18 friends, plus one more for her escort. Jodi wore a lovely white and embroidered, sequined gown dress, while the girls of her court all wore a range of colors for their dresses and the guys wore black pants, different colored shirts and black bowties.
Like any 18th birthday, it’s a very special time for a teen, their family, and friends because it in part marks a transition to adulthood. And through great preparation there was a lot of celebration and excitement had by all of the guests. Our 18th birthday debut photography captured the complete occasion, and we’ve shared a few of our favorite photos in this event photography article for you to see. Before the official program for the evening started, we created a collection of posed and fun shots with Jodi and her court for her 18th birthday debut photography, first in within the decorated venue at Admiral Kidd, then outside of the building with downtown San Diego and the bay in the background. Beginning first with the table and room shots, it was next time for photos of Jodi and her court. The event photography captured the group in the decorated room, and in various places around the nice property at Admiral Kidd.
The Debut, the official name of this traditional Filipino coming-of-age celebration, began with the grand entrance of the court and Jodi, which was captured using both cameras for a nice range of perspectives, as well as general video for most of the evening. Jodi’s parents opened offered a prayer and the rest of the evening commenced starting with the buffet meal catered by Admiral Kidd.
Following dinner, the 18th birthday debut photography captured posed shots of Jodi as she visited at each of the two dozen tables of guests. Then next it was time for the “18 Roses Dance”, where 18 preselected males of the debutante’s choice each danced with Jodi after first presenting her with a single white rose. The dancing concluded with a formal and fun“Father and Daughter Dance”.
Another key moment for the party was the 18 “candles”, where Jodi’s female friends each delivered a short speech about their relationship with her. There were laughs, happy moments recalled, as well as a few joyful tears in this special greeting. Jodi’s mom finished up this part of the session.
