Amber and Josh, their first look at the Catamaran Resort, Mission Bay, San Diego, California

The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, on Mission Bay in San Diego, California hosted and coordinated a beautiful wedding venue for Amber and Josh’s wedding day, which was a pleasure to capture for them through wedding photography. The couple’s day of Catamaran Resort wedding photography captured the bride Amber’s getting ready, a first look between the bride and groom, posed and creative photos, the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

The getting ready photography captured the finishing up of hair and makeup by artist Janice Sanchez. Bride Amber, her bridesmaids, and the moms were all treated to the care and very fine makeup and hair artistry. This was also the time to photograph Amber’s wedding dress, a simple yet elegant two piece dress that you’ll see fit and flowed nicely. Shots of the couple’s wedding rings, the garter that Josh would later remove, and many other details were also captured in this part of the couple’s Catamaran Resort wedding photography.

Josh, his groomsmen and the dads were also photographed when they arrived at the hotel. The guys were mostly ready, and needed only to slip on their jackets, Josh his tie, and have their boutonnieres placed. The boutonnieres featured lovely little succulent plants and, like all of the wonderful wedding flowers and those one the wedding arch and tables, were created by Organic Elements. This portion of the guys’ Catamaran resort wedding photography also captured their quick game of cards and beers all around, which eased them into the more formal part of the wedding day.

With the groom Josh now ready, I headed back to bride Amber’s room to finish coordinating the first look. The first look portion of the Catamaran resort wedding photography took place outside on a pathway near nice architectural lines and landscaping of the resort. A fun sequence of photos were shot capturing Josh and Amber before, during and after his first sight of Amber in her wedding dress. The first look is nice variation to the groom seeing the bride for the first time as she walks up the aisle.

Next on our agenda were wedding photos of the couple, and varying combinations of the wedding party and family. The landscaping of the Catamaran again made for a lovely setting. Taking care of many traditional and creative wedding photos before the ceremony meant the couple and the others would have time free to mingle with their guests during the cocktail hour, rather than missing this time due to photography.

Speaking of agenda, the wedding couple, along with Stephanie of It’s All Happening! Events, and myself worked out the photography schedule for the day. And it was Stephanie who did a stellar job of ensuring the entire wedding was coordinated and ran very smoothly from start to finish!

Amber’s father walked her from the top of the stairs near the ballrooms to Josh for their beachfront, lawn ceremony

The ceremony was next on our schedule for the Catamaran Resort wedding photography in San Diego. As the Resort often does and for other Catamaran Resort wedding photography I’ve captured, the ceremony was prepared to take place on the lawn adjacent to the sandy beach of Mission Bay. With guests in place, the groom proceeded to the front of the seating area, followed by the entrance of each pair of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Next, all the guests stood as the bride Amber was escorted by her father, who made their entrance beginning at the top of the stairs of the ballroom portion of the Resort.

As with all weddings I photograph, the Catamaran Resort wedding photography entailed the use of two cameras and multiple lenses, and a very active approach to the creating wedding photos. This meant that couple’s wedding ceremony was photographed from many different angles and positions. This dynamic wedding photography ensured the couple would receive a complete collection of wedding photos of their ceremony. And for Amber and josh, the moments captured included the procession, Amber’s father giving her away, vow, rings, sand ceremony, kiss the bride, and celebration!

Following the ceremony and a few large group photos and creative photos, the Catamaran Resort wedding photography next captured guests congratulating the couple during the cocktail hour, shots of the tables prepared for the reception in the Aviara Ballroom, and finally the reception itself.

The reception was hosted by the fantastic staff at the Catamaran Resort, who attended to about 150 wedding guests. And a great selection and play of music was catered to by the talented Jeff Carroll. Highlights of the couple’s reception that were captured through their Catamaran Resort wedding photography included their grand entrance, first dance, meal service, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, bouquet toss, garter toss, cake cutting, and dancing.

Amber and Josh’s Catamaran Resort wedding photography included all of the fantastic features of my Collection 3 wedding photography package which featured an unlimited number of photography for 8 hours using two camera and multiple lenses, all edited images, a secure online gallery of those edited images to view and share with family and guests, a set of professional prints, a large Standout Print, one main storybook wedding album with two parent book copies, and a DVD of all images in high resolution with print rights.
