Vannezza and Jake picked a most wonderful venue by choosing their Admiral Kidd wedding. Located right on San Diego Bay, with panoramic views of the downtown skyline, sail boats on the water, and a very open and well-layed out space, their Admiral Kidd wedding made for a perfect San Diego wedding venue.
The couple’s full day of wedding photography began with photography of their pre-wedding. This getting-ready photography time took place in the heart of downtown San Diego at Hotel Palomar. I started first with photographing Jake and his groomsmen finishing up with buttoning shirts, fastening cuff links, and slipping on their purple vests and grey suit jackets. We created some fun wedding shots near the pool at the Hotel Palomar, and next some city street wedding photos outside. The guys’ purple vests and ties made a great contrast to their grey suits as they walked down the center of the street.
After photographing the groom and groomsmen I went to bride Vannezza’s room where she and her bridesmaids were also getting ready. Here I photographed the great wedding hairstyling by Jenn from Station Salon, and really nice makeup by Lupe Gaines.
The wedding photography schedule that Vannezza and I worked out earlier allowed for time to create wedding photos of her lovely wedding dress. All white, with lace along the top of the straight across wedding dress, and featuring embroidery across the bodice, with a flared, trumpet lower, her dress looked fabulous. The purple bridesmaid dresses looked terrific alongside Vannezza’s wedding dress, especially in the shots on the hotel balcony with downtown San Diego building in the background.
Before long it was time for the girls to take the limousine to the ceremony venue for the Admiral Kidd wedding. Once at the venue we continued to follow our wedding photography schedule with shots of the bride and bridesmaids. Landscaping of the Admiral Kidd wedding venue and San Diego bay and skyline was our backdrop. Although groom Jake wouldn’t see his bride until she walked down the aisle escorted by Vannezza’s father, there was still plenty of other special wedding photography moments, like when Jake got to see his two young daughters for the first time in their lovely white dresses with purple accents.
The ceremony seating for the Admiral Kidd wedding was filled and ready for the bride’s procession and the wedding ceremony, which was performed beautifully by Chaplain Robert Feagle. Following the wedding ceremony photography we next created a variety of posed photos of the newlyweds with their family and friends. The cocktail hour was also going on at this time, which gave me the opportunity to capture a mix of candid shots of guests congratulating the couple.
The couple’s grand entrance soon followed, marking the start of their Admiral Kidd wedding reception. First dances were photographed, as was their meal, toasts, cake cutting, the couple thanking each of their guests, and dancing. Speaking of meal, and consistent with the other Admiral Kidd weddings I’ve photographed, the excellent service and food prepared and served by Letty Shringley and her great staff at Admiral Kidd was very well received.
Their Admiral Kidd wedding reception featured beautiful decorations and place settings, and wedding coordination by Rozanna from Affairz Event Consulting. The really nice lighting and music was managed by DJ Guy. Another standout in artistry was the couple’s four-tier, purple-accented wedding cake made by Grove Pastry Shop. The fantastic wedding arch flowers were assembled by Jackie from JD Events, and all of the flowers were provided by TessFresh Flowers, although the couple did their own arrangements.
Perfect weather and a fantastic location made for another wonderful Admiral Kidd wedding, as shown in some of my photographer favorites images on this page.
