With all the pomp and circumstance befitting 30-years in the United States Navy, Master Chief Salazar surrounded by active duty and retired personnel, family, and friends for a wonderful occasion that was captured through this retirement ceremony photography. It was an initially overcast morning, which soon opened to clear skies, the dawn of a new time for Master Chief Salazar and his family. Taking place at Ocean View at Naval Base Point Loma, the ceremony was at the shores edge, with Navy ships and aircraft occasionally passing by, as if to pay tribute to the Master Chief.

The retirement ceremony photography captured the range of U.S. Navy retirement ceremony traditions, including the Color Guard, National Anthem, tributes, awarding of the Meritorious Service Medal, reading of The Watch, Old Glory reading as the U.S. Flag was ceremoniously handed to Master Chief Salazar, who in turn handed it to his wife. And finally, posting of the Sideboys, at which time Master Chief Salazar was Piped ashore. He first walked past the Sideboys in salute, then passed by them one more time with his wife and children.

The retirement ceremony photography captured the expressions and moments as a number of guests had the opportunity to speak about Master Chief Salazar, including active duty personal, retired shipmates, his former captain, and the Master Chief’s daughter. The ceremony photography concluded with many candid shots of the guests congratulating Master Chief Salazar, as well posed photos with family and friends.
