A delightful setting for a wedding and reception alongside sailboats and motorboats at Mission Bay, San Diego. The Marina Village wedding reception for Kathleen and Daniel was decorated with a lovely array of ribbon, lights and lanterns. It’s actually one of the nicest jobs of decorating this particular space at Marina Village that I’ve in the number of times I’ve provided wedding photography at this venue. It even helped make for some nicer shots of the wedding couple with their guests.
Kathleen and Daniel’s wedding reception was a joy to photograph for more than the nice decorations and the wonderful celebration they shared with family and friends. I was delighted to have captured the heartfelt toast by Kathleen’s father, a fun wedding cake cutting, and a nice variation on the bouquet and garter toss.
Following an anniversary dance, where all married and significant others shared the dance floor, Daniel removed the garter from Kathleen. The newlyweds then presented the longest married couple with the garter and bouquet. Next, the elder gentleman placed the garter on his wife’s leg! How’s that for a fun and youthful spin on the traditional bouquet and garter toss?
Marina Village is a popular venue for weddings and events of all kinds because of the nice location and variety of available rooms. Wedding ceremonies are either held out on the adjacent lawn beneath large eucalyptus tress, as Kathleen and Daniel did, or indoors in of the rooms or in a tent space.
Marina Village wedding receptions are most often held indoors, but that’s not to say that guests don’t sometimes spill outdoors onto the walkways to enjoy the trellises laced with bougainvilleas, fresh marine air, or nice views of the marina and back drop of a lovely sunset. As you’ll see in some of my wedding photographer favorite photos featured on this page, there’s a some shots I captured of the wedding couple in the aforementioned nice outdoor space.
