Milla and Kevin Seaport Village Wedding

We began the afternoon wedding photography for Milla and Kevin near the beautiful blue water, wonderful yachts, and fantastic buildings and landscaping that makes up part of San Diego’s Seaport Village. Located adjacent to downtown, Seaport Village is a large waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment complex that recreates a harborside setting of a century ago. It’ was a fabulous choice for Milla and Kevin’s Seaport Village wedding.

Accompanying us were Milla’s bridesmaid Natasha and Kevin’s bestman Tom. For their shorter photography session, my goal was to create a wonderful collection of photos for the couple in the same vivid style of wedding photography that I love to create. Upon meeting the couple I knew the afternoon would be as much fun as it was work, which is perfect for me because that’s another key part of my wedding photography style, to shoot relaxed, fun and creatively.

The five of us walked along the winding boardwalk that wrapped around the adjacent hilly, green park, also known as Embarcadero Marina Park North, with its trees reaching into the sky like the tall buildings of the nearby Hyatt and Marriott resorts. With the wonderful blue waters of  San Diego Bay and the San Diego Marriott Marquis Marina, as our backdrop, and yachts of all sizes, we were set to make shoot the variety of wedding photos I wanted for the couple.

The nice scenery for Milla and Kevin’s Seaport Village wedding could only compliment, but not overshadow the beautiful Milla in her white wedding dress, and Natasha in her soft pink bridesmaid dress. Adding to their elegance were their lovely rose bouquets and parasols. Much of our posed and creative photography took place in the park, but we soon made our way back to the Manchester Grand Hyatt to create a variety of outdoors family portraits with other members of their family that now joined us.

After photography some static, dynamic and fun family portraits with the wedding couple and their family’s, it was now time to work our way over to the San Diego Pier Cafe, where Milla and Kevin would have their wedding ceremony and reception. The upstairs dining room of the Pier Cafe, with it’s wonderful wood floors, views of the bay and nice decor made for the perfect intimate gathering for Milla and Kevin’s Seaport Village wedding venue.

Their wedding photography at the restaurant included capturing their wedding ceremony, mingling with guests, decor, before finishing out the afternoon of photography with some posed shots outside of the Pier Cafe. These last shots were among some of my favorites, because of the back lighting of the sun and texture of the cafe’s building in the background. And of course, because Milla and Kevin looked so wonderful.
