Monica and Ricky Hyatt Regency and La Jolla Wedding Photography

Monica and Ricky Hyatt Regency La Jolla Wedding Preparation by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaThe Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, San Diego, California makes for a wonderful wedding setting, and it’s here that I started creating La Jolla wedding photography for the lovely couple of Monica and Ricky. But their day of wedding photography didn’t stop here, because it continued on to capture their beautiful backyard wedding ceremony and reception at a nearby private home in La Jolla, on the road leading up to Soledad Mountain. This was actually the second time I was able to provide wedding photography for Ricky’s family – which his mom Elizabeth was such a delight in coordination for us – as about six months earlier I also photographed his brother’s wedding, too.

Monica and Ricky Hyatt Regency La Jolla Wedding Preparation by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaWhen I arrived at the Hyatt Regency, Monica and her bridesmaids were finishing up getting ready, which gave me time to capture shots of their final preparation and the bride’s lovely wedding dress. Monica’s dress featured a semi-sweetheart neckline, chapel length train, and embroidery on the bodice. The couple’s La Jolla wedding photography, wouldn’t be complete without shots of the wedding dress hanging by itself, and of course with the bride wearing it. Monica and Ricky Hyatt Regency La Jolla Wedding Preparation by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaWithin the first few hours of the couple’s day of La Jolla wedding photography a lot of important photos were captured. In addition to the bride’s getting ready and some posed photos at the Hyatt, there were more fun shots like the entire wedding party in the limousine as they prepared to depart the hotel for the private home where the ceremony and reception would be held.

Monica and Ricky La Jolla Backyard Wedding First Look by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaAlready at the La Jolla home was the groom Ricky, as he anxiously awaited the arrival of his bride Monica and the first look we were staging. First looks are really special and so was this one. Ricky was one side of gate and Monica on the other. They each read heartfelt and even light-hearted words to one another while I photographed. And then the moment came for to me photograph Ricky as he gazed upon his beautiful bride Monica for the first time.

Monica and Ricky La Jolla Backyard Wedding by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaOur La Jolla wedding photography schedule was thoughtfully planned for capturing many posed photos before the wedding ceremony, so as to give more time for additional creative photos after the ceremony. The schedule also helped to give the couple more time with their guests after the ceremony, too. The nice garden and upper lawn area served as a great space for wedding photography. Here I had uniform lighting, which is important in photography, but as I often like to do I also took advantage of dramatic backlighting from the sun as well.

Monica and Ricky La Jolla Backyard Wedding by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaMonica and Ricky’s wedding ceremony was a delight to photograph. It was heartfelt and fun. The staging and schedule for the ceremony and reception was managed perfectly by Wedding & Events coordinator Leah. Following the ceremony I captured more posed and creative shots for the couple’s La Jolla wedding photography. In the collection of my San Diego wedding photographer favorites posted here you can see that I again used backlighting from the sun, while created a nice mix of fun wedding photos for the couple, too.

Monica and Ricky La Jolla Backyard Wedding by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaThe day of La Jolla wedding photography next lead into the couple’s grand entrance and the reception. The guest were treated to a wonderful Spanish meal of freshly cooked paella that looked and tasted wonderful. It was prepared and cooked onsite by Paella Valenciana. Following the meal, my wedding photography captured the couple’s first dance, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, dancing, toasts, bouquet and garter belt toss, and cake cutting. The cakes were actually a wonderful variety of cheesecakes, all made by The Incredible Cheesecake Company.

Monica and Ricky La Jolla Backyard Wedding by San Diego Wedding Photographer Andrew AbounaMonica and Ricky’s La Jolla wedding photography includes a private online gallery of photos to view and share, a collection of prints, a DVD with all of their photos in high resolution and full print rights, and a nice mounted Standout print of another favorite image that’s ready to hang on their wall. And with so many great wedding photos that I created for the couple, the very best way for them to enjoy them is going to be in a beautiful, Italian-made wedding album so that their photos are always available to see, touch and share.
