The Ocean View wedding for Rebecca and Dave with two photographers captured splendid dresses, attention to detail, a relaxed and fun atmosphere, fantastic views, and above all it captured the most delightful marriage of this lovely couple in a wonderful photographic style. The couple’s wedding was a nice blend of contemporary and classic styles, too. Certainly contemporary for the lovely wedding dress that Rebecca wore and those of her bridesmaids, not to mention the fine architecture and expansive landscaping and deck of the Ocean View.
Formally known as Ocean View at Ballast Point, the wedding venue is located on Naval Base Point Loma in the neighborhood of Point Loma in San Diego, California. Ocean View is another of the many nice Navy Region Southwest wedding venues where I’ve photographed. This area is in fact quite historic, with importance to the region dating as far back as 1795. An Ocean View wedding like this one is complimented by the magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and entrance to San Diego Bay. The wedding venues large wooden deck features a gazebo overlooking the water, which helped make for great shots, particularly at night with nice uplighting provided by DJ Paul Peterson. I even used the rocks below for some great wedding photos of the couple.
One of the classic elements in Rebecca and Dave’s Ocean View wedding would certainly be Dave’s U.S. Navy Dinner dress white jacket, complete with his ribbons. He looked elegant in all of the photos, and the white jacket provided the perfect contrast and compliment to all of the wedding photos. Another classic moment in the couple’s wedding which was well-thought was the placing of the garter belts and shoes on Rebecca that was participated in by all of the women in the bridal suite.
There were many other details that I enjoyed seeing and photographing for the couple’s Ocean View wedding. One such detail was the bride’s amazing brooch bouquet. Rebecca’s brooch wedding bouquet was built upon white hydrangeas which was densely covered with brooches of various styles. In the wedding photos you’ll notice one of the brooches is a Navy anchor pin, as a compliment to Dave’s Naval service.
The couple’s Ocean View wedding photography included two photographers and two videographers. The photographers included myself and my assistant. Wedding videography was provided by the impeccable and delightful Sia and Jose of Jossia Visual Productions. Sia and I work exceptionally well together and have covered weddings and corporate events together in the past.
The full day of Ocean view wedding photography began with getting ready photos of the bride and groom in separate rooms and was greatly facilitated by having two photographers. The beauty of having a second wedding photographer, and videographer for that matter, extends far beyond the getting ready photos.
The key reason for having a second wedding photographer is to obtain a significant increase in the number of views and perspectives that are captured and created for the wedding photography collection. Using a second shooter, as it’s sometimes referred to, any particular moment can be photographed from front and back, or from eye level and above at about the same moment. This method of photographing can gives truly impactful images.
You’ll see examples of various methods and second wedding photographer benefits in this collection of some of my wedding photographer favorites that appear in this post. Of course the wedding couple’s complete collection of wedding photos will have so many more multi-persective, multi-location shots than just those that appear here.
In addition to the couple’s getting ready, the entire day of Ocean View wedding photography for Rebecca and Dave captured their procession, wedding ceremony, portraits, and a fun-filled reception that concluded with the couple driving off in an old classic Packard. The reception, as well as the sound, was managed perfectly by the high energy of DJ Paul Peterson. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Paul at other weddings and he is terrific.
The amazing professional ensemble for the Rebecca and Dave’s Ocean View wedding couldn’t have been better complimented and the wedding day couldn’t have gone more smoothly and perfectly if it hadn’t been for excellent work of wedding coordinator Jamie of Events by Jamie. And the staff of The Ocean View at Ballast Point provided outstanding service the whole day through.
Rebecca and Dave’s Ocean View wedding photography included all of the fantastic features of my Collection 3 wedding photography package with two photographers and additional albums. This package is a super value, which was made even better by the 15% Military Discount that I provide to all military couples. Their package featured two photographers with 8 and 5 hours of photography, respectively, all edited images, a secure online gallery of those edited images to view and share the couple’s wedding photos, a set of professional prints, a large Standout Print, one main storybook wedding album with two parent book copies, and a DVD of all images in high resolution with print rights. Be sure to see the layout and cover of the couple’s wedding album.
